GoHighLevel and n8n solve different problems
GoHighLevel and n8n are not competing products: GoHighLevel is an all-in-one CRM and marketing platform that holds your clients' contacts, pipelines, funnels, calendars and phone numbers, and n8n is a workflow automation tool that moves data between apps and holds none of those things. An agency chooses HighLevel to run client marketing. It adds n8n when it needs automation that reaches beyond HighLevel.
The honest comparison is therefore narrower than the search suggests. It is HighLevel's built-in workflow builder against n8n's, plus where each runs and how each charges.
Plans read on 3 October 2026: HighLevel in dollars, n8n served in euros
HighLevel Starter is $97 a month or $970 a year, with three sub-accounts and unlimited users and contacts. Unlimited is $297 a month and Agency Pro is $497 a month.
n8n's entry cloud plan is Starter, which includes 2,500 workflow executions a month, one shared project and five concurrent executions. Pro includes 10,000 executions. The n8n pricing page offers monthly and annual billing, with annual shown as saving 17%. It served its prices to us in euros, not US dollars, so this page does not print an n8n dollar figure. n8n's documentation also describes a Community edition that is free to self-host with almost the complete feature set.

Automation depth: HighLevel workflows against n8n workflows
HighLevel workflows are built around its own records. A trigger such as a call status starts a sequence of texts, emails, tasks and pipeline moves. Standard actions cost nothing extra. Steps that reach outside, including inbound webhooks, custom webhooks, Google Sheets and Slack actions, are premium executions: 100 are free for the life of each sub-account, then they cost $0.01 each, or $10 a month for 10,000 on the Workflow Pro Starter tier.
n8n counts one execution per run of the whole workflow, however many steps it has. Its HighLevel node can create, update, get and delete contacts, opportunities and tasks, book appointments and fetch free calendar slots. Anything else goes through an HTTP Request node against HighLevel's API, which allows bursts of 100 requests per 10 seconds and 200,000 requests a day per app. The GoHighLevel n8n integration guide covers the setup.
One limit to note on n8n Cloud Starter: a single execution can run for five minutes at most, against 40 minutes on Pro.
Who needs HighLevel, who needs n8n, and who needs both
- HighLevel alone: agencies whose automations stay inside the CRM, such as lead follow-up, reminders and review requests. You do not need a second tool for these.
- n8n alone: technical teams that already have a CRM, or do not need one, and want to connect many systems or build AI agents. Self-hosting needs someone who can run Docker and maintain a server; n8n's own guide points non-technical users to its cloud plans.
- Both: agencies that keep clients in HighLevel but need multi-system logic, for example enriching a new contact from another database before writing it back. The agency overview shows where the base platform stops.
If a hosted, no-code connector is closer to what you want, compare GoHighLevel and Zapier instead.
What switching or adding n8n involves
You cannot migrate from HighLevel to n8n, because n8n has no contact database, funnel builder or phone system to migrate into. What you can move is automation logic, and that is a rebuild, not an export.
- List the HighLevel workflows that call outside systems. Leave purely internal ones where they are.
- Choose n8n Cloud or a self-hosted install, and check where client data may be stored before you pick.
- Create HighLevel credentials in n8n and rebuild each workflow with the HighLevel node or HTTP requests.
- Send events from HighLevel to n8n with a webhook action. HighLevel lists the Custom Webhook action as a premium execution; its article on the standard Webhook action does not say whether that one is charged.
- Run both versions in parallel on test contacts, then switch off the HighLevel copy to avoid duplicate messages.
