Yes, a snapshot copies a client setup, but not client data
Yes. GoHighLevel snapshots are reusable templates that copy the configuration of one sub-account into another, so an agency does not rebuild the same workflows and funnels for every client. A snapshot carries setup, not records. Contacts, appointments and conversations stay where they are.
You do not build a snapshot from scratch. You set up a source sub-account the way you want it, then create the snapshot from that account. It can be reused across as many sub-accounts as you like. The help articles we read do not tie snapshots to a specific plan.
What a snapshot contains and what it leaves out
| Copied | Not copied |
|---|---|
| Workflows, triggers, Conversation AI and Voice AI agents | Contacts and contact-to-contact associations |
| Funnels, websites, forms, surveys, quizzes and blogs | Appointments |
| Calendars, calendar groups and services | Conversations, messages and their history |
| Pipelines, custom fields, custom values, tags and smart lists | Reputation data and live account activity |
| Email, text and WhatsApp templates | Stripe connections |
| Dashboards, custom reports and custom metrics | Integrations and third-party account connections |
| Membership products and offers, certificates, webinars | Phone numbers assigned to Voice AI agents |
| Documents and contracts, knowledge bases, WordPress site | Private dashboards and LinkedIn Lead Gen Forms |
Some copied items still need work in the new account. WhatsApp templates need the integration and Meta approval, Voice AI agents need a phone number, and WordPress plugins or themes may need their licenses re-entered. We keep a longer checklist on the snapshot boundary page.
How to create a snapshot
- In Agency View, open Account Snapshots and click Create New Snapshot.
- Name it for its use case and pick the source sub-account.
- Choose the assets. Use Select All, or expand each category and tick individual items.
- Click Create.
A snapshot does not follow later changes to the source account. You have to refresh it to capture new or edited assets, and you can then push selected updates to linked sub-accounts inside your own agency.
How to share a snapshot and import one
Sharing creates a link. The recipient agency imports the snapshot into its own library, then loads it into a sub-account. The user needs the Share/Import Snapshots permission.
- In Agency View, go to Account Snapshots, then My Snapshots.
- Open the three-dot menu on the snapshot and choose Share Snapshot.
- Pick a link type.
- Optionally turn on Assets Protected, then click Get Link and send it.
| Link type | Who can import |
|---|---|
| Permanent link | Anyone with the active URL, repeatedly |
| One-time link | Anyone with the URL, for a single import |
| Email link | The intended email recipient, single use |
| Agency-restricted link | Only the agencies you specify |
| Sub-account restricted link | Only the named sub-account |
| Marketplace share link | Buyers of your App Marketplace listing |
Assets Protection lets the receiving agency use protected assets internally but stops them being shared or resold outside it. Agencies you shared with do not get your later updates automatically. You refresh, share again and they import again.
How to load a snapshot into an existing client account
- From the agency dashboard, open Sub-Accounts, find the client, and choose Manage Client from the three-dot menu.
- Click Actions, then Load Snapshot.
- Pick the snapshot and click Proceed.
- Select all assets or only the ones you need.
- Review conflicts. Override replaces the client's existing item and cannot be undone through the snapshot load. Skip keeps the existing item.
- Type confirm and click Proceed. An email arrives when the load has finished.
Step 5 needs the most care. HighLevel states that an override cannot be undone through the snapshot load, so a client's edited workflow can be permanently replaced by the template version. Choose Skip for anything the client has changed. You can also create a new sub-account directly from a snapshot, and in SaaS Mode a snapshot can be attached to a plan so it loads when a customer checks out. That route is covered in what SaaS Mode is.
Marketplace snapshots: buying and selling
Agencies can sell a snapshot to other HighLevel agencies through the App Marketplace. The seller chooses Sell on Marketplace from Account Snapshots, registers in the Developer Portal, and sets the listing as free, freemium or paid, with one-time, monthly or yearly pricing. Each listing holds one snapshot, protection against resale is applied automatically, and HighLevel says it reviews submissions within 7 to 10 days.
HighLevel's pricing page also mentions a library of pre-built accounts for industries such as real estate, dentists and gyms. A bought snapshot has the same limits as your own: it brings structure, not contacts or connected accounts. If you need to move client records, a snapshot is the wrong tool and a CSV import is the route. For how snapshots fit an agency rollout, see GoHighLevel for agencies.
